Packet buffer format

Every packet buffer produced by server begins with a standard generic header that is 12 bytes in size, and may include an optional extra header and optional payload. The presence of these optional parts varies depending on the type of packet buffer.

The generic header specifies the version number of the streaming protocol. Currently, there is only one version of the protocol, which is identified as version “0”.
